Front Cover Friday – Real Life Covers

Whilst putting together the schedule for Front Cover Friday I realised that I really  don’t have that many books with photos/real life scenes on the cover! It’s not that I don’t like them, I just never seem to buy them. I must admit, I’m not a fan of book-turned-movie covers, I definitely prefer the original. I’m also not sure about the supposed main character being on the front, I feel like it tells my imagination how to picture them. So, that being said, I have put together this list of covers that I really like. It is a mixture of books I own with real life covers and books I want to read with real life covers. Enjoy!

The Girls – Emma Cline

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

The Girls is by far my favourite book of 2016 so far! I must admit I am pretty jealous that the US cover is way better than the UK one, but I still love this cover. The girls on the cover give off a real 60s, carefree, hippy vibe which I love. If you want to read my full review of The Girls click here.

Dust – Mark Thompson

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

I was lucky enough to be part of the blog tour for Dust which came out in August of this year. I absolutely love love love the cover, it’s a wonderful photograph that gives us a sense of the novel and what it is about. Read my full review of Dust here.

Since You’ve Been Gone – Morgan Matson

since-youve-been-gone

I’ve yet to read Since You’ve Been Gone but isn’t the cover amazing!? It tells me it is going to be a happy-go-lucky read, perfect for summer. I really hope to read it soon!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – Ransom Riggs

The cover of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is so so good! So creepy and unnerving. I haven’t read it yet but I feel like that is exactly how the story is going to be. I like covers to tell me something about the story, but not too much. This cover does exactly that.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before – Jenny Han

to-all-the-boys

As much as I feel like this cover is telling me what to imagine the main character looks like, I like it none-the-less. It is a really pretty girl next door cover. The story sounds intriguing and original, I’m not a fan of real lovey type romances but I think I would enjoy this story.

Are there any ‘real life’ covers you love/hate? I’d love to know!
